2011 CELEBRATION OF SCOUTING

The annual "Celebration of Scouting" is a prayer service honoring all scouts and their leaders in the Oakland Diocese. Religious awards earned during the year are presented at the Celebration. Scout groups are invited to process into the Cathedral with their banner or flag.

The Celebration will be on Saturday afternoon, February 12, 2011 at the Cathedral of Christ the Light, Oakland. All scouts, their leaders and parents are invited. Information announcing the event will be posted at the right, when available.

Scouts who would like to be recognized and awarded their religious awards at the Celebration should call CYO at (510) 893-5154 by Monday, February 7.

BOARD OF REVIEW – A "Board of Review" has been scheduled for all scouts who have completed the requirements for the Ad Altare Dei Award or the Pope Pius XII Award. (Note: Other Awards do not require a board of Review.) The Board will be on Saturday, January 29, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at the Oakland Diocese CYO Office, 2121 Harrison Street., Oakland.

Celebration Information

The 2010 Celebration of Scouting was a great success with over 100 scouts receiving their religious awards at the Cathedral of Christ the Light!

Thanks to all the scouts, scout leaders, families, awards counselors for attending to make the day special. The picture below is from this year's Celabration - Fr. Larry D'Anjou, Diocesan Scout Chaplain, blessing the scouts.
